1998 GMC will not start - Fuel pressure.

Hi Steve,

I have a GMC pickup that has had the fuel pump replaced 3 times! After replacing the pump it will run good for a few days then it won't start or die after starting? What could be the problem and what should I check?

Thanks for the help,

Hi Thelma,

You may want to have the fuel pressure regulator checked, it is very common for the fuel pressure regulator to leak causing a hard start and/or stall concern. If the fuel pressure regulator is good then you need to have the fuel pressure tested when the truck will not start, you could just have a bad fuel pump.

If everything looks good with the fuel system then you will need to look at the ignition system for problems-distributor cap/rotor-plug wires- ignition module-etc.

I hope this is the information you are looking for, please ask if you have any more questions!
